"A ho'i a'e au; until we meet again" - Queen Lili uokalani
Christopher M. Breitinger, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina passed away unexpectedly November 13, 2024 at the age of 52. Chris was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, and will be remembered by all who knew him.
Born on March 6, 1972 in
Mansfield, Ohio to Martin Breitinger and the late Vicki Breitinger. Chris so loved his family and wanted to provide the best future for them, so he selflessly juggled the role of a loving husband and father while working a full time job and completing his college degree. In 2010 Chris and his family took a leap of faith and left their hometown and relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, where Chris accepted a job at The Boeing Company as a Mechanical Engineer.
Christopher married the love of his life, and soulmate, Beth (Bodnar) Breitinger on October 9, 1992, and they recently celebrated 32 deeply committed, loving years of marriage together. So great was his devotion to her that she never once had to doubt his unwavering love for her and their children. Chris was so proud of his young adult children, Alexandria, Katarina, and Jacob, that he often commented to his wife that they were his greatest achievement and the measure of him as a man.
Chris was the foundation of his family, and embodied the best of qualities; unconditional love, strength, and an unending generosity that was felt and seen by them all. He admired and looked up to his father Marty, and based many of his own decisions and actions in life upon how he felt his father might have responded to a given situation. Christopher found the greatest joy just spending quality time with his family and three dogs. He was overjoyed by the birth of his first and only grandchild Juniper, this past June, and would be quick to start off any conversation asking others if they had seen a picture of her yet.
When Chris wasn't generously helping others with his time and talent, he was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, and cherishing his newfound love of cooking where he loved entertaining, especially during the holidays. Some of Chris' other hobbies included boating and fishing, woodworking, 3D printing, Star Trek memorabilia, sitting around the fire with family, his knack for telling corny dad jokes, and of course traveling with his family and beloved wife Beth, including trips to Yellowstone, Germany, Hungary, Scotland, the Caribbean, and Hawaii.
Christopher's loving spirit is carried on by his wife, Beth, their children, son Jacob Breitinger of Mt. Pleasant, SC, daughter Alexandria Breitinger of Austin, Texas, daughter Katarina Breitinger and partner James Ball of Edinburgh, Scotland, granddaughter Juniper Breitinger of Edinburgh, Scotland, father Martin Breitinger of
Mansfield, Ohio, brother Shawn (Kathy) Breitinger of
Mansfield, Ohio, father-in-law and mother-in-law Kenneth (Marsha) Bodnar of Sheffield Village, Ohio, brother-in-law Kenneth (Tammy) Bodnar of
Mansfield, Ohio, brother-in-law Matthew (Annette) Bodnar of Rock Island, Tennessee, brother-in-law Nicholas (Erin LaRocque) Bodnar of Chicago, Illinois, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and co-workers.
Christopher is preceded in death by his mother, Vicki Breitinger and brother David Breitinger.
Friends may call Friday, December 6, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the memorial service will follow at 12 pm. Pastor Christine Radojcsics will officiate.
