Christopher William Bumgardner, born on May 7, 1981, in
Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on December 27, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 44.
Chris lived a life full of enthusiasm and warmth, always eager to uplift those around him. A proud graduate of Cherryville High School, Chris started his love with piano music in grade 4 and continued into high school. He started the band in the 7th grade. And started in the marching band in high school.
Professionally, Chris dedicated himself to excellence as a Customer Service Representative at Land Rover Cape Fear. He truly enjoyed meeting and assisting customers, making a positive impact on everyone he encountered. His genuine kindness and dedication defined not only his work but also how he interacted with the world.
Outside of his professional life, Chris's spirit found freedom in paddle boarding along the serene waters and spending quality time at the beach. His love for cars and the open road was paralleled by the strong bonds he shared with family and friends. Chris valued each moment with them, treasuring laughter, stories, and companionship. His beloved dog, Brutus, held a special place in his heart and completed his family circle.
Chris is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Violet Bumgardner, and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Jean Clouse; and his beloved pet dog, Flash.
He is survived by his loving parents, Steve William Bumgardner and Kathy Clouse Bumgardner of Wilmington, NC; his brother, David Bumgardner, and life partner, Lee Winters of Raleigh, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Hanover Humane Society to honor Chris's lifelong love for animals and his advocacy for the voiceless, particularly Pit Bulls.
