Christopher C. Burger

Christopher C. Burger, 63, of Bellefonte, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Born November 3, 1961, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Jack and Julia (Coslo) Burger. On September 28, 1985, he married the love of his life, Janell (Brown) Burger, who survives him at home after sharing 39 years of marriage together.
Chris was a 1980 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. He worked for the Bellefonte Borough as the lead street foreman, retiring in 2021, after 33 years of service.
In addition to his wife, Janell, he is survived by their two children, Trey Burger (Kathryn) of Clarence, and Brianna Hankinson (Chad) of Honesdale, and three grandchildren, Jack and Abigail Burger, and Colson Hankinson. Also surviving are two brothers, Barry Burger (Sabine) and Tom Burger (Debbie), both of Bellefonte, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chris was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. He was an avid dog lover, especially his two labs, Buxton and Barkley, who were never far from his side. He was also an exceptionally skilled woodworker and able to fix just about anything; he truly was a jack-of-all-trades, and always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed going for rides on his side by side, watching NASCAR, and playing and watching baseball and softball. More than anything, his family brought him the most joy in life. Spending time with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren, truly was the highlight of his life.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM, at the church, with Father Brian Saylor officiating. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
