Christopher M. Goebel, age 36, died Tuesday, December 5, 2023, unexpectedly at his home of natural causes.
Memorial Mass 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m., Sunday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church.
Christopher was born May 28, 1987, to Daniel J. and Susan M. (Zimmerman) Goebel in Mankato. Chris graduated from Loyola High School in 2005 and in 2009 he graduated from the University of Minnesota – Morris with degrees in History, Political Science, and Theater. While in high school Chris was active in student council, speech and drama, football, band, knowledge bowl, YMCA Youth in Government, and Kiwanis Key Club. He was a Boy Scout obtaining his Eagle Scout Badge. He volunteered with AmeriCorps for 2 years. Chris worked as a paraprofessional at Rosa Parks and presently at Mankato West High School, and also District 77 Aces Program. He was active with Merely Players in set design.
Chris enjoyed drawing, reading, rock music, pop culture, science fiction, and set design.
Chris is survived by his parents, Dan and Sue Goebel; brother, Ben (Bree Plessel) Goebel; nephews, Hunter and William; niece, Evelyn; aunts and uncles, Deb Goebel, Greg (Dawn) Goebel, Tim Goebel, Paul Goebel, Lisa (Jay) Rempfer, Jim (Nicole) Goebel, Mark (Stacie) Goebel, John (Carol) Goebel, Bob (Lynn) Zimmerman, and Patty (Jerry) Marzinske; and many cousins.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Mary Zimmerman, Richard and Eileen Goebel; uncle, Dave Goebel.
