Christopher John Cionek Sr., 49, of Johnstown, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at his home after years of valiant fighting against heart disease, surrounded by his beloved family.
Chris was born on April 10, 1976, in Amsterdam, NY, to the late Clara and Andrew Cionek Sr. He grew up in Amsterdam and attended local schooling. During this time, he lived in various states before returning to Broadalbin at 16 years old. He moved to the Gloversville Johnstown area in his mid 20's. Chris had a variety of jobs over the years with his most favorite one being for Antonucci's where he was working as a driver for three years.
Chris was married to his loving wife Tonya (Wiedemann) Cionek on August 20, 2011.
Some of Chris' favorite hobbies were Bingo, building model cars, watching movies, listening to music, and people watching with his mother-in-law. He enjoyed spending family nights with his mother and father-in-law, Debbie and Kevin Van Vranken. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family including cooking and crafts with Michael and Alana. He cherished every moment he had with everyone he could.
He was predeceased by his parents Clara and Andrew Cionek Sr.
Chris is survived by his wife Tonya Cionek; sons Christopher Cionek Jr., Clayton Cionek, his loving daughter in law Bri Cionek and David Cionek along with grandchildren Mason Cionek, Lincoln Cionek, Anastasia Cionek, and Austyn VanAvery; brother Andrew Cionek Jr., sister in law Kim (John) Royall; brother in laws John (Jill) Wiedemann and James (Jan) Wiedemann; beloved cats Lucky and TiTi & dog Buddy; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, May 3rd at the Gloversville Moose at 1:30pm for family and friends. Christopher's care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, NY 12078.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care by check to 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078 or online Donate Online | Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care.
