Christopher Michael Fugitt was born on October 11, 1972, in Orrville, Ohio, to Robert T. Fugitt and Martha L. Forrer (now Martha L. McFadden). From an early age, Chris had a spirited curiosity and a playful determination that would shape the rest of his life.
Growing up, Chris was actively involved in sports, excelling in baseball and football with the Kennesaw Generals. He loved fishing and, at his mother's encouragement, took up running road races. At just 13 years old, he briefly held the Georgia state record for the half-marathon (13.1 miles) with an impressive time of 1:29:06.
Chris graduated from Sequoyah High School in Canton, Georgia, in 1991. Despite being surrounded by peers from military families, he made his own path by joining the United States Navy in 1993. His time in the Navy instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline and motivation. Chris served aboard the CVN 73, USS George Washington, a nuclear aircraft carrier, where he was responsible for launching aircraft from the carrier deck, including F-18s and F-14s. During two Mediterranean cruises, he witnessed historic commemorations, including D-Day in France. He was honorably discharged from active duty on September 29, 1997.
After his military service, Chris explored several roles, including working with a fireworks company that staged displays for holiday events in locations such as Ball Ground, Jasper, Pine Mountain, and even the Georgia Dome. Ultimately, he built a meaningful career at Universal Alloy Corporation in Canton, Georgia, as a Process Specialist, tempering alloy components for aircraft companies worldwide. He cherished his work and the relationships he built with his coworkers. During this time, he also volunteered with the Wreaths Across America program, helping to honor veterans by placing wreaths on their graves.
Chris is survived by his former wife, Kimberly Priest of Canton, Georgia; his daughter, Paris; and his 4-year-old Granddaughter, Stella. He is also survived by his father, Robert T. Fugitt; mother, Martha L. McFadden; stepfather, Daniel McFadden; stepmother, Alicia L. Fugitt; brother, Cary S. Fugitt, sister, Allison Fugitt Rex and several nieces and nephews.
Chris will be remembered for his dedication, adventurous spirit, and the love he shared with family and friends.
