Our beloved Terry Dwayne Williamson, Sr., age 63, of
Buford, GA passed away on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026.
He was a Harley ridin', chainsaw carvin', roofman extraordinaire. The big fella had a massive heart and was a stranger to no one. He went above and beyond countless times for his family and friends throughout his life. If you needed a hand, he was the one to call.
Terry was born in
Gadsden, AL, and grew up in Georgia. He went to Sequoyah High School in Doraville. He became a roofer at a young age and was self-employed with his own roofing company for over 40 years, and worked with multiple high profile customers over that time. Terry was fearless and got a kick out of the stress he put his family through when he would show them pictures of him acting like a spider monkey; scaling some huge mansion with a 50 foot drop to the earth below him. He worked hard and played harder. He owned numerous Harleys over the years and loved to ride long distance, played a role in a movie, performed his chainsaw art for the masses, built porches and wellhouses and carvings and more routinely. He sang karaoke, did boot-scootin' boogies on the dancefloor, and most importantly: was there for his family no matter what. He was a macho man with a big squishy heart inside.
The ladies loved him. The guys wanted to be like him. He was the life of the party and would talk your head off. He was the kind of guy that could party half the night away and still get up the next day and outwork everyone else, even into his 60's. A true 1 of 1. Nobody could ever accuse "Sledge" of being dull or lazy. He was fortunate to take many trips on his bikes and put more miles on them than most people do in their cars. Forecast calls for torrential rain and no visibility? He'd just strap on his rain gear and plow through it. If he wanted to do something, he did it. Terry also loved to participate in humanitarian and charity efforts. He spent many days donating his time, money, and/or art to multiple places and events over the years. He talked the talk. Then he walked the walk. Probably even moonwalked a time or two as well. He was a character. A silly goose. And we loved him. We always will.
He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Williamson, Jr., sister Gailyne Chambers, brother Billy Williamson, Jr., stepfather Irvin Toole, and stepmother Milva Williamson.
He is survived by his parents: Carolyn Toole of Lula, GA, and Billy Williamson, Sr. of
Buford, GA. Also survived by his brothers Rusty Williamson (and fiancé Sheila Clelland) of Auburn, GA, and Philip Furrow (and wife Stacy Furrow) of Cumming, as well as sisters Pam Crouch (and husband Jamie Crouch), Rhonda Glover (and husband Tommy Glover) of
Buford, GA. His other son, Lee Williamson (and wife Jenny Williamson), of Gainesville, GA, and their son, Eli Williamson. Eli was Terry's lone and treasured grandchild, and the one that made him become "Papa T"! He was a devoted and awesome grandpappy. One to be proud of, for sure. Terry is also survived by his girlfriend, Rachel Gotiear, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, etc. that truly loved and counted on him.
He's our Freebird now. Fly high. You'll forever be in our hearts.
