Christopher A. Geels, 63, of Decatur, IN passed away at his residence on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Chris was born on August 6, 1961, the son of James L. and Janice (Titus) Geels. On July 31, 1993, Chris married Joyce Ann Ogg. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2024.
Chris worked at Zurcher Tire in Monroe for over 30 years. He loved to build and do DIY products, with his wife Joyce, and make gifts for Christmas. He loved spending time with his family, grandkids and was an ornery guy! He loved watching the 49ers beat the Packers. Chris was in the Decatur bowling league, and was a US Army Ranger.
He is survived by his mother, Janice Geels of Decatur; 3 children, Daniel "Danny" (Alyssa) Dowler of Decatur, Mariah "Riah" (Trevor Hawkins) of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Victoria "Tory" (Tristan) Anderson of Decatur; 2 grandsons, Levi Dowler and Teddy Hawkins; siblings, Michael (Kristine) Geels of Monroe, IN, Laurie (Eugene) Grote of Decatur, IN, Leann (Gary) Granell of Tennessee, Erica (Mark) Dieden and Melissa (James) Blazek both of Illinois, Matthew (Angela) Geels of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Geels.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at Haggard Hirschy and Zelt Funeral Home. The Family ask that you wear casual attire.
Funeral services will also be at the funeral home on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 10:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jonathan Crandall officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery with Military graveside rites by American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
Preferred memorials are to Wounded Warrior Project or Adams County Cancer Coalition.
