Christopher Karabin, 42, of Simpsonville, SC, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 14, 2023.
The grandson of Ukrainians Ivan and Maria Karabin, he was born in Troy, NY to Robert and Pamela Karabin.
Christopher was baptized and received his first Holy Communion at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet, NY.
He relished his time with his beloved cousins, Viktor, Mira, Anita, Stephan, Zoryanna, Franco, Daniel and Maximilian. He appreciated the kindness of his grandparents, Ivan and Maria as well as the stories of his uncles, Petro and Stephan. He was a big fan of his generous magician uncle, Bill Karabin, and Aunt Annie and Uncle Jim Rua often had an open door to spend fantastic times with his cousins on Maple Avenue.
After high school, Christopher enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
In his spare time, Christopher enjoyed fishing and would sometimes toss his catch back into Swift Creek Reservoir in Midlothian, VA. Chris loved to spend time with his amazing fiance, Heather, swimming in the ocean and exploring technology. He also wrote several songs, had a great voice, and played the guitar exceptionally well.
Christopher is survived by his fiance, Heather Franklin; father and stepmother, Robert and Kathryn Karabin; sister, Jennifer Karabin; brother, Michael Karabin; two nephews, Jude and Gabriel McDonald; brother-in-law, Cliff McDonald; uncle, William Karabin; and the many cousins noted above.
The family wishes to acknowledge the outstanding care by the professional nurses, technicians, doctors, and all the staff at Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital on Grove Rd. in Greenville, SC.
A visitation will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 20th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
