Christopher Calvin Newberry, age 54, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away suddenly on Friday, November 8th, 2024. Chris was born in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday, December 4th, 1969. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Jimmy Max Newberry and Nellie Newberry, and his two beloved pets, Koda and Maggie.
He is survived by one child, Christopher Hunter Newberry of Little Rock; a daughter-in-law, Yessi Avila Newberry of Little Rock; a sister, Shannon Taylor of Little Rock; two bonus children, Michael Vincent Babb III of Hensley and Brittney Mariner of Little Rock, whom he loved as his own; two grandchildren, Eli Max Newberry and Leo Hunter Newberry of Little Rock; a nephew, Nixx Taylor of Little Rock; three bonus grandchildren, Ruby Babb, Rylea Mariner and Liam Mariner. Additionally, he is also survived by Nicole Courtney Lovell, his former wife, friend and mother of his children.
Chris was a professional wildlife photographer and an avid outdoorsman. His photos have been featured on display at Arkansas state parks, Arkansas game and fish handbooks and the Arkansas wildlife calendars. His favorite hobbies included exploring the woods and swamps of Arkansas, hiking and riding his bike, playing basketball, taking photos and videos and being close to dangerous animals or reptiles, especially snakes. But most of all, he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Chris was adopted as a baby in San Antonio, Texas. They were an Air Force family and moved around to different Air Force bases, even in Alaska. They eventually settled in Jacksonville, Arkansas and moved to Conway in 2003. He attended Jacksonville high school class of 1988. Chris had a lot of childhood friends who will mourn his death. He later moved to Conway to be near his parents shortly after his son was born. Chris obtained his CDL and worked as a driver until starting photography around 2010. Chris had a deep passion for nature and wildlife ever since he was a little boy. He was also an experienced deer hunter and archer, competing in archery tournaments throughout the south. Chris was a very patient man and had a special connection with wildlife, sometimes deer and other wild animals would walk right up to him. Chris was a great storyteller and also loved to teach people about nature. He would assist various wildlife organizations and accompany them on trips throughout Arkansas. For the past three years, he has had a popular TikTok account and loved to show wildlife to people who might not be able to witness it themselves.
Chris will be deeply missed as he left an everlasting impact on everyone who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Humane Society of Pulaski County.
His celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, from 1:00P.M. - 3:00 P.M. at Life Church of Little Rock: 9415 Stagecoach Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210.
