Deputy Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer, a devoted family man and respected law enforcement officer, passed away in the line of duty on January 30, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 41. Born on November 11, 1984, in
Metairie, Louisiana, Chris was a beacon of courage and love throughout his life.
Chris is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Desiree Duhe Ohlmeyer, and their two cherished children: son, Gavin Ohlmeyer (Dakota Cope), and daughter, Olivia Ohlmeyer. He was the treasured son of Lori Payne (Jamie) and Joseph O'Neill. His loving presence will also be profoundly missed by his siblings, Megan O'Neill, Abby Breaux (Ryan), and Jamie Payne Jr.; his in-laws, Timothy and Liz Duhe; his brothers-in-law, Timmy Duhe (Dana) and Derrick Duhe (Christie); as well as his godson, Brayden Ducote, and nephew, Stetson Breaux. Chris was a dear nephew to his aunts, Lisa Ashley and Susan Good, and uncle, Paul O'Neill (Rochelle) and he held a special place in the hearts of his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including the late Joey Liuzza. His memory will be cherished by his grandmother, Veronica (Nana) Ohlmeyer, and he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Carol Liuzza; Thomas and Joann O'Neill; and Morris Ohlmeyer. Chris's life was a testament to his unwavering courage and the profound love he had for his family. His pride and joy were his children, and he was a dedicated husband who cherished the life he and Desiree built and fought for together. Chris's interests reflected his zest for life and his love for his family. He was an avid cook who found joy in preparing meals while serenaded by the timeless tunes of Frank Sinatra. An outdoor enthusiast, he relished the moments spent riding his bike, and nothing was more important to him than the quality time he spent with his family and his best four-legged friend, Zeke.
Chris dedicated 16 years of his life to law enforcement, beginning his career with the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office before serving 14 years with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. His commitment to public service was recognized with multiple letters of recognition and citizen's compliments as well as serving as a Field Training Officer, preparing the next generation of law enforcement. He recently joined the Traffic division, where he proudly served as a motorman. Deputy Ohlmeyer served his community with honor, and his legacy of bravery and dedication to his community were unwavering. His absence will be deeply felt by his colleagues and those he served.

His spirit will continue to inspire us, and his memory will be a guiding light for generations to come. Chris's journey on earth has concluded, but the impact of his life will be felt forever.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Jefferson Performing Arts Center, 6400 Airline Dr,
Metairie, LA 70003. Public visitation will begin at 10:00 am with services starting at 1:00 pm followed by procession to Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr,
