Christopher Brooks Poteet

Christopher Brooks Poteet, 55, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2025.
Chris was born on November 22, 1969, at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina. He was a proud Southender of Louisville who lived life full throttle and with an unmistakable spark. He loved his cars and spending time at car meets, always happiest when he was tinkering in his garage. A lifelong fan of Star Wars and all things Comicon, Chris had a passion for the '80s, fireworks, guns, and anything that made a big boom. He had an adventurous spirit and a heart full of pride for his family.
Chris was especially proud of his late father, Kenneth Brooks Poteet, a Marine, whose legacy he carried with deep respect throughout his life.
More than anything, Chris loved being a dad and a grandparent. His greatest joy was his granddaughter, Berlin Rose Poteet, who brought light to his world.
Chris leaves behind his loving mother, Shirley Poteet; his little brother, Gregory Scott Poteet; his son, Christian Scott Poteet; his daughter, Brooklyn Rose Poteet; his cherished granddaughter, Berlin Rose Poteet; his niece, Emma Poteet; his nephew, Andrew Poteet; and several cousins and extended family members.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Brooks Poteet.
He will be remembered for his humor, his big personality, his love for his family, and the way he made life fun for everyone around him. His absence leaves an unfillable space in the hearts of his family and friends.
A celebration of Chris's life will be held Saturday, July 12th at 6 p.m. at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home, 7336 Southside Dr. The memorial visitation will start at 1 p..m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. The family invites all who knew and loved him to come share memories, stories, and laughs in his honor.
