Christopher Michael Salameno passed away on December 30, 2024, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs after struggling with health issues for the past few years. Chris is preceded in death by his mom, Jacque Green, his grandparents, Gilbert and Joanna Green and his two fur babies, Gizmo and Fuzz. Chris was born to Jacque and LeRoy Cockrum on July 20, 1972, in Pueblo. He was adopted by his stepdad Dewayne Salameno a few years later. Chris leaves behind his sister and best friend, Crystal (Scott) Gregory and sister Cori (Tucker) Freed, his two fur babies, Boo and Willow, his nephews, Wyatt and Jarrett, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends Jeannette and Mariea, and many friends from work.
Chris grew up in Pueblo County and graduated from Pueblo County High School in 1991. Chris was involved in 4-H, showing rabbits, chickens, pigs and woodworking. In High School he was involved in FBLA and loved getting into mischief with his "Zoo Crew" friends. He always loved Wonder Woman, The Hulk, He-Man, WWE wresting, sci-fi movies, collecting anything with owls on them and the Hallmark movies.
Chris always loved a good road trip in the fall to see the changing leaves every year, old ghost towns and mountains. He loved to cook and barbeque. He loved to hang out and attempted to play cornhole with the master, Scott. He looked forward to family picnics, potlucks, and gatherings. He loved pulling sly jokes on family, especially at the holidays by sneaking Bronco ornaments on a Steeler's fan Christmas tree.
Chris started his adult life working as a manager at Burger King and later DJ's Country Store. He worked at Atmel with his friend Katy. Chris's favorite job was working at the Canon City Walmart for over 10 years in management.
Chris loved deeply and mourned deeper the loss of his Mom, Grandma, Gizmo and Fuzz. Chris leaves behind a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please support your local animal shelters. Chris loved his cats and adopted them from shelters. Cards can be mailed to Crystal Gregory, 380 Columbine Ave, Canon City, CO 81212.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11 am at the Canon City Four Mile Community Center located at directly east of the Ace Hardware Store at 105 Steinmeier. Please bring your favorite memories of Chris to share with all of us.
