Christopher Michael Wood, ("Chris"), beloved son, father, fiancée and friend, died peacefully in his sleep on October 1, 2025, due to complications from Stage 4 bile duct cancer. He was 39 years old. Chris was the devoted father of Connor Wood (aged 11) and Daphne Wood (aged 8). All who knew Chris recognized his deep love for his children and his pride in their accomplishments. He was the cherished only child of Michael and Suzanne Wood and had planned to build a life with his adored fiancée, Jess Booth. His favorite pastimes include singing to his children, playing his guitar, going to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs and playing video games with Connor and the "Best Friends Gang." Chris earned his undergraduate degree in history (2008) and his Juris Doctor (2012) from Wake Forest University. He received his LLM in International Tax from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in 2013. He began his career at Ernst & Young and PriceWaterhouseCoopers and most recently served as the Director of Global Tax Controversies at McDonald's Corporation. He was preceded in death by grandparents Joseph and Anna Hall and Herbert and Ina Wood. Visitation 10am (funeral service begins 11am) on Tuesday, October 7 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 617 W. Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657. Burial at Rosehill Cemetery will follow. Please note that St. Peter's does not have a parking lot. If you wish to travel in procession to the cemetery, street parking is available. If you are not attending the burial, public transportation or ride share are recommended. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the foundation for bile duct cancer research: the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (https://cholangiocarcinoma.org).
