Chuck J. Steinbrenner

Charles J. "Chuck" Steinbrenner, 78, of West Salem, died Sunday, November 24, 2024 at UH Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland, following a period of declining health.
He was born October 16, 1946, in Cleveland, to the late Charles and Lilly (Kalat) Steinbrenner and has lived most of his life in the Cleveland and West Salem area.
Chuck graduated from James Ford Rhodes High School in 1964. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He married Cindy G. Hayne on August 19, 1988 and they were happily married for 32 years. Cindy preceded him in death on February 13, 2020.
He was a police officer for the city of Cleveland retiring following 35 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also had a passion for building model trains, airplanes, fire trucks and automobiles.
Surviving are three sons, Chris J. (Bethany) Steinbrenner of West Lafayette, IN, Christopher M. (Jennifer) DeTore of Frankfort, KY and Justin C. (Candace) Steinbrenner of West Salem, OH; daughter, Amanda H. (Thomas Bell) Steinbrenner of West Salem, OH; grandchildren, Nicholas, Brendan, Tristan, Matthew, Lacie, Lukas, Taylor & Gabriel; great granddaughter, Anya; and sister, Sharon and Jim (see you soon) Hooley.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cindy G. Steinbrenner; father, Charles Steinbrenner; and mother, Lilly Steinbrenner.
Friends may call on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman, with Pastor Don E. Bolich officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
