Cindy Bucker

Cynthia "Cindy" Eileen Bucker (Stoughton), 72, of Mooresville passed away surrounded by her family on September 27, 2025. Cindy was born July 12, 1953 to Arthur and Hazel (Sprague) Stoughton. She spent her early childhood in Indianapolis and later moved with her family to Morgan County, where she attended the Mooresville School System. It was there that she met the love of her life, Edward Bucker. The two high school sweethearts were married on January 6, 1973 following her graduation from Indiana Business College. Ed and Cindy built a loving family over the 52 years of their marriage, which included three children and ten grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as Grandma Ci-Ci. Her grandchildren were one of her greatest joys and she spent countless hours playing with them, watching movies, crafting, and reading to them, or more frequently making up stories to tell them. The favorite of both her and her grandchildren were her bedtime stories about "Grandpa Art and his Little Red Helicopter."
Cindy worked many years as a secretary, but her real love was working with children. She had an innate gift for connecting with children and touched the hearts of many with her joyful personality, playful energy, and charismatic story telling. She had the true gift of meeting children on their level. Cindy was a beloved Sunday School teacher for nearly 50 years. You could find her every Sunday morning teaching the love of Jesus to the babies in the nursery and singing boisterously, if admittedly a little off key, while leading music time for the pre-schoolers. On Sunday evenings you would find her leading the children's night class, a program she directed for decades. She dedicated her time to children not only in the church, but also through working and volunteering in the local school system, and being everyone's favorite Girl Scout leader and camp counselor, where she gained the nickname "Lady Bug".
Cindy loved reading her Bible and journaling. She was always preparing for one of the various Bible studies she led and praying over her lengthy prayer list. She was passionate about missions and went on several mission trips herself, including trips to Brazil where she served with a medical boat ministry. She also served locally spreading God's love to the young women at the Indiana Girl's Correctional School.
Cindy was a longtime member of Bluff Creek Christian Church and more recently a member of Garfield Christian Church, this is where she mentored her granddaughters on how to teach her nursery lessons. They continue her legacy of sharing the love of Jesus with the youngest children each Sunday.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Ed, and her three devoted children, Brice (Cindy) Bucker, Corrie (Benjamin) Noll, and Rylee (Anthony) Saucerman, along with 10 grandchildren, Elias, Addison, William, Evangeline, Edward, Ingrid, Ruby, Mackenzie, Logan, and Alex. She is also survived by her brothers, Steve, Randy, and Kent Stoughton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Services for Cindy will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Bluff Creek Christian Church, 6286 W State Rd. 144 Greenwood, IN 46143, calling will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be made in Cindy's memory to either the missions programs at Bluff Creek Christian Church or Garfield Christian Church, or to 'Donate Life Indiana' to honor both her and her transplant donor, whose family she prayed for daily and to whom she was eternally grateful.
