Cindy Sexton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 29, 2025.
After a life lived well, Cindy Sexton, a devoted follower of Christ, and loving wife and mother peacefully entered the arms of her Savior on the afternoon of March 27, 2025.
Cindy was born in Omaha, Nebraska. She was a proud Midwestern girl with an outgoing personality as big as her heart. She was always the life of the party, never met a stranger, and could turn any room into a stage-especially when she was telling a good story (and she had plenty of them!).
Cindy met Joe Sexton after high school, and their life together as an Air Force couple took them to England, Maine, and a few places in between. For a short season after their time in the Air Force, Cindy embraced her calling as a pastor's wife, where her warmth, hospitality, and generous spirit made everyone feel like family.
As a mother to Rebecca, David, Lindsey, and Laura, Cindy was a warm, loving presence who taught her children not only the importance of faith but also how to live it. She modeled a life of giving and service, teaching them to always look for ways to help others. Cindy brought warmth to her home and made every holiday special, creating lasting memories for her family. When it came to chores, she had a way of making them fun, turning cleaning time into dancing time, and helping her children learn to make the best of every situation. Cindy was also a proud grandmother to her three grandchildren, and her love for them was boundless.
For 27 years, Cindy shared her love for learning and life with children as a classroom teacher, educating young minds in 11 schools across four states. Beyond the classroom, Cindy had many passions. She was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir until she no longer could. She liked to travel, cross-stitching, knitting, and crocheting. She was an avid reader, particularly of mysteries, and loved diving deep into Bible studies. Cindy also liked to write stories, many of which were about her life and the experiences that shaped her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Sexton, her children Rebecca, David, Lindsey, and Laura, her grandchildren Nicolette, Lauren, and Ben, her father Norris Stolp, her sisters Kim Wright (Fred) and Stephanie Nyp (Ed), her brother Brian Stolp (Becki), sister-in-law Dona Stolp, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Stolp, and brother Norris Stolp Jr.
Cindy's passing leaves a hole in our hearts, but we find comfort in knowing that she is at home with her Savior. Her love, kindness, and laughter will forever echo in the stories she shared and the love she gave.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Lubbock, specifically Taylor, Monica, her loving nurse, Michael, and Sheryl, Cindy's final friend.
All are welcome to celebrate Cindy on Friday, April 4, 2025. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM, and a Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 AM at Southcrest Baptist Church. All who attend are invited to wear bright colors in honor of Cindy's homegoing.
