Cindy L. Shepard, 43 of Altamont died at 6:08 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Tonna Percival officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Effingham County Humane Society or E.A.R.S.
Cindy was born on Tuesday, May 18, 1982 in Effingham, IL to Steve and Jeri (Owens) Shepard. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church. She was a 2000 graduate of Altamont Community High School and had a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. She formerly worked at Walmart and the Effingham County Sheriff's Department.
She loved spending time outdoors, hiking in nature, going on road trips to baseball games with her family, reading a true crime book, spending time with her animals, watching movies with her son, and more than anything enjoying a Chicago Cubs game.
She is survived by: her parents, Steve and Jeri Shepard of Altamont; son, Brody (Jamie Sandschafer) Mahon of Altamont; brothers, Steven Shepard of Altamont and Jarod Shepard of Effingham; sister, Christie Shepard of Beecher City; close family friends, Steve and Nelda Alwerdt.
