Clara Honea Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wolfersberger Funeral Home - O'Fallon on Dec. 12, 2025.
Clara Belle Honea (nee Jones), age 97, of O'Fallon, Ill. and formerly of Memphis, Tenn., went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 11, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital.

Clara was born on October 2, 1928, in Muscadine, Ala., to Edward Hill Jones and Hazel Pauline (nee Hill) Jones. After graduating from Piedmont High School and Jacksonville State Teachers College, she married her childhood friend and love of her life, Crumpton "Crump" Baxter Honea, on June 26, 1950, at Piedmont First United Methodist Church in Piedmont, Ala. Together they built a life of faith, family, and service to others.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Honea (David) Hursey of O'Fallon, Ill., daughter-in-law, Janice Bailey Honea of McKinney, Texas, and her 7 beloved grandchildren - Courtney (Chuck) Meade of Prosper, Texas; Martha (Patrick) Stoffel of O'Fallon, Ill.; Gretchen (Wilson) Allen of Richardson, Texas; Matthew (Whitney) Fraier of Chesterfield, Mo.; Caitlin (Brian) Hineborg of Austin, Ark.; Drew (Elizabeth) Hursey of Memphis, Tenn.; Chris (Allison) Hursey of Scottsdale, Ariz.; great-grandchildren; Kayla (Austin) Roy, Sam Meade, Owen Stoffel, Nora Stoffel, Jackson Meade, Graham Fraier, Charlotte Hineborg, Henry Fraier, Delaney Hineborg, George Hineborg, Crosby Fraier, Hudson Hineborg, Andy Hursey; and great-great-grandchild Vivian Roy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Crumpton B. Honea and her beloved son, James Edward "Jim" Honea.

She will be laid to rest by her late husband at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. To honor Clara's bright and joyful spirit, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Her laughter, faith, and unconditional love created deep bonds that will be cherished forever. Her legacy is one of kindness, joy, and service to others. She believed that life was meant to be lived vibrantly and with flowers.

Romans 14:8 (NIV): If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord.
So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
