Clara E "Betty" Hosterman

Clara E. "Betty" Hosterman, 103, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg. Born in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late David and Clara (Maydew) Mills.
Betty was first married to Paul Howard, who preceded her in death in 1964. In 1977, she married Merle Hosterman, who also preceded her in death in 2000.
For many years, Betty worked as a waitress at the College Diner in State College, where she was known for her warm smile and friendly nature. She was also a past member of Faith United Methodist Church in Texas.
Betty was a talented artist who loved painting and created many beautiful pieces cherished by her family. She enjoyed bingo, crossword puzzles, word searches, cross-stitch, and crocheting. One of her greatest passions was making "cough pillows" for hospital patients-she created thousands of them over the years with love and care.
A spirited competitor, Betty especially loved playing cards and was known to be fierce during a game of Phase 10 or Uno.
In recent years, Betty made her home at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg, where she truly enjoyed living. She was a social butterfly who made friends easily among both staff and residents.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Patricia A. "Patty" Keller of Bellefonte and Amy J. Peak and her husband, Rob, of The Colony, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren-Matthew Keller (Maureen), Kenneth Adams (Lisa), Robby Peak, and David Peak-and five great-grandchildren: Kurtis, Oliver, Everett, Chloe, and Cora.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, Betty was preceded in death by her son, David Howard; son-in-law, Russ Keller; one brother, Albert Meyers; and three sisters: Lillian Wetzel, Ruth Petroff, and Florence Gardner. She was the last of her generation.
In accordance with Betty's wishes, all services will be private. She will be laid to rest with her son at Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe, Texas.
