Clara Schlueter

Born in Brooklyn the year 1930, Clara (Klemme) Schlueter moved to Paterson, NJ after high school.

She spent her summers working as a waitress on the Jersey Shore or going to summer camp where she first met her lifelong sweetheart, Bob.

Clare graduated from Barrington College in Providence, RI with a Bachelor's of Art degree in Christian Education and went on to receive a Master's degree in Childhood Education from NYS University/Oneonta.

Bob and Clare were married November 23, 1957 after Bob returned from Japan, serving a 2 year stint for the U.S. Army as a radar specialist.

After settling down and buying a home in East Glenville God blessed them with 2 sons; Robert "Chip"and his wife, Penny, Daniel "D.J." and his wife, Crystal; 3 grandchildren, Erin (William), Matthew and Anna (Grant).

Clare loved children and loved to teach be it full time or part time in the Scotia Glenville Central School system, Loudonville Christian School or the Sunday School programs at Faith Baptist Church in Rexford. In later years Clare was influential in beginning the "Seniors" group at Faith Baptist Church and taught adult Sunday School classes with Bob at First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady.

Although not one to enjoy the winter months, Clare loved being outdoors gardening, camping in the Adirondacks or, after retirement, vacationing with Bob from Denali, Alaska to the Alps of Austria.

At 93, Clare no longer wished to be burdened with the aches and pains of this world and, after saying her goodbyes, she graciously slipped into eternity reunited with "her Bob" and so many other lifelong friends. She was welcomed into Glory by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 11, 2023.

Please join us for a time of remembrance and celebration at the Glenville Funeral Home 9 Glenridge Road Glenville from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 with a service to follow. An Internment service will commence on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Gerald B. Solomon National Cemetery at 200 Duell Rd Schuylerville at 11:30 a.m.
