Clarabel Owen (nee Springer) 92, passed away on December 1, 2024.
Clarabel was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio on May 30, 1932, to Ernest and Agnes (nee McDonald) Springer.
Clarabel known as Clara or Gram to friends and family is survived by her son Christopher Owen, granddaughter Kaitlin Owen and former daughter in law Kimberly Owen; two brothers Ernest and Jim Springer as well as extended relatives and many friends.
Clarabel loved traveling, having been to almost all 50 states. She was an avid boater and spent countless summers on Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow with her family. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and continued that hobby well into her 90’s. A little known fact, she enjoyed riding motorcycles and flying airplanes with her husband Lou. She grew up on a farm and enjoyed nature so much it led to her love of gardening.
Clarabel spent years as a real estate agent in the greater Cincinnati area while raising her family. But most of all Clarabel loved being a wife, mother and a grandmother, this was her true calling in life.
She was an early member of Crestview Presbyterian Church which she began attending when the church was in the living room of the Doerbaums home. She continued her fellowship for over 40 years.
She will be deeply missed by all that knew her and was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Louis L. Owen, as well as her brother Donnie and her sister Edi.
Visitation for Clarabel will take place on Tuesday December 10, 2024, at Crestview Presbyterian Church (9463 Cincinnati Columbus Rd, West Chester, OH 45069) at 11:00 AM with service to begin at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at West Chester Cemetery.
There will be a reception after the graveside service for Clarabel at the church. We will have light refreshments including snacks served.
