Josie graduated from Guthrie High School class of 1956. She married Charles Ham on June 10, 1956, and spent the first 20 years of their marriage alongside him as he served in the U.S. Air Force. They returned to Guthrie and raised their children. She later returned to the workforce with Guthrie Public Schools as a Foster Grandmother, and cafeteria worker. Josie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; granddaughter, Samatha Robinson; great-grandsons, Simeon McIntyre, and Jonas Canning; and sisters, Helen Landis, Dusa Gooch, Naomi Pickard, and Cora Biggs.

She is survived by her five children, Glenda Robinson of Edmond, Oklahoma, Debra (Mike) Warren of Norman, Oklahoma, Cheryl (David) Canning of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Donald (Sheila) Ham of St. Robert, Missouri, and Julia Ham and partner, Richard McKinney of Edmond. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Chase and Wyatt Robinson, Cathryn, Jayme, JoCaryn, and Cayla McCullough, Jeremy and Joseph Canning, CJ, Tiffany, and Crystal Ham. There are 20 great-grandchildren, and her first great-great-grandchild is due in February.
