Sung Ae Ham

Sung Ae Ham (Lee) will be remembered for her strength, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was born on September 13, 1928 in Seoul, the third of four children of Won Geun Lee and Do Hyun Kim. During the Korean War, she was a multi-talented capable young woman, working as a nurse, typist and broadcaster to support her family. She later married the late Dae Kyung Ham, a tall and athletic English teacher and translator, and together they raised five daughters and one son. In 1992, they embarked on a new chapter in life and immigrated to the US in their sixties, joining their daughter Meeree and her husband Taesuk Yun. They took great joy in traveling the world with their son Sung Bum, a pilot. They were longtime residents at the Claridge House in Arlington. On March 13, 2026, Mrs. Ham died peacefully at the age of 97, surrounded by loving family at Virginia Hospital Center. She is survived by her six children, Meeyun, Meeree, Mi Ok, Mee Hye, Su Jung and Sung Bum; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren in the US and South Korea.

Funeral service will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home (9902 Braddock Rd. Fairfax VA 22032) on Thursday March 19, 4-8pm, followed by interment on Friday March 20, 9am-12pm. Your presence and support are the only gifts requested.
