Clare Cross, 77, of Scott Twp, passed away on the morning of October 6, 2024, at her home in Harlansburg.
Clare was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on February 22, 1947, to the late Casper Carl Bruder & Edna Clare Shurtz. She married John V. Cross on July 30, 1974. He survives.
Mrs. Cross was a graduate of South Side High School and Saint Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. Clare was a Registered Nurse, most recently doing agency nursing, and she previously worked in the ICU at West Penn Hospital and at the Doctor's Hospital in California. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, and gardening along with spending time with her family – her greatest pride being her four children and many pets. She was an avid reader and loved antiques and historical homes and places. Clare was a past member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.
Along with her husband of fifty years, Mrs. Cross is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Cross (Paglia) of Southern Pines, NC, Jennifer C. Schuttert (husband Jay Schuttert) of Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Kenneth W. Cross (wife Melissa Nicholson Cross) of Cranberry Twp., Wesley S. Cross of Butler, PA and 5 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Clare is preceded in passing by two brothers, Charles Bruder and John Reilley, both originally of Pittsburgh PA.
In keeping with her wishes, all services will be held privately.
Memorial Contributions can be made, in her name, to the Lawrence County Humane Society, P.O. Box 62, New Castle, PA, 16102.
