Clare Holland

Clare Holland of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023. She was 68.
Born Clare Rosselle in Miami, Florida, she enjoyed sailing, fishing and motor boating. Clare was a gifted artist with a quick wit and a beautiful smile.
She graduated from Coral Shores High School in Key Largo and earned her associate's degree from Florida Keys Community College. After receiving her bachelor's degree from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, she married the love of her life – Gary Holland.
The newlyweds enjoyed a fairy tale life in many respects, living aboard a sailboat and exploring the waters of the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. Clare applied her artistic ability to her various occupations which included teaching, kitchen design, floral arrangements and sign making. An example of her talent still can be seen in the sign she created marking the entrance to the town of Tavernier where her family once lived.
Clare and Gary moved to Deland where Clare opened a flower shop called Buds & Blooms. She again applied her creative talent to make uniquely beautiful flower arrangements.
Upon her retirement, Clare moved to New Smyrna Beach. She and Gary purchased a motor home and traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada.
Clare and Gary were inseparable and enjoyed 45 years as partners and best friends.
Clare leaves behind a loving family and a wealth of friends. Survivors include her husband Gary Holland, their dog Ruby, sister Debbie Rosselle (Terry), brother John Rosselle, and sister-in-law Barbara Holland Martin.
A celebration of life will be held at Baldwin Brothers in New Smyrna Beach on January 31, with visitation from 1:00 – 1:30, followed by a brief ceremony. Casual attire please.
The family would like to express thanks to the people of Halifax Heath, Brooks Rehabilitation and Halifax Hospice Care Center in Edgewater who cared for Clare. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Hospice Care Center of your choice.
