Clarelyn Elgan passed away on April 25, 2023, in Soda Springs, Idaho at the age of 85.
She was born October 22, 1937 in Mesa, Arizona. She was the only child of R. Clarence White and Evalyn Bell White. Growing up she was joyful, playful and energetic. She loved music and excelled at the piano and tennis, culminating in winning the Arizona State Tennis Championship her senior year of high school. She graduated from Mesa High School and went on to attend and graduate from Brigham Young University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She was a dedicated and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Clarelyn married Douglas Lee Elgan on August 24, 1960 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple and were later blessed with five children.
Clarelyn was genuinely loved by all who knew her and often referred to as an "Angel". She loved God and her family more than anything and dedicated her life to them. She encouraged her children to be loving, good, and faithful. She taught them to work hard and be lifelong learners. She always taught by kind and quiet example. She was known for her infectious smile, charitable patience and unquestionable love for everyone. Countless lives were blessed by her talent for music and loving service.
Clarelyn is survived by her five children: Mark Elgan - Pocatello, Idaho, Diane (Ken) Witzel - Wexford, Pennsylvania, David (Misti) Elgan - Jerome, Idaho, Steven (Tiffany) Elgan - West Point, New York, and Duane (Jessica) Elgan - Soda Springs, Idaho and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 28 at 11:00 AM at the LDS Church at 290 3rd W., Soda Springs, Idaho. She will be laid to rest in the Dayton Cemetery in Dayton, Idaho.
