Clarene (Hensley) Christian was born on September 25, 1930 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to parents Noble Desmond Emberlin and Lela (Anthony) Emberlin. Clarene passed from this life on September 28, 2025 in Elmore City, Oklahoma at 95 years. Clarene was born and raised in Garvin County, Oklahoma, and attended school in Katie, Oklahoma, alongside her siblings-one brother and four sisters. She graduated from Elmore City High School in 1948. On December 22, 1941, she married Leonard "Don" Hensley, and together they built a beautiful family and life. They welcomed their children: Larry Don Hensley (born September 1949), Diana Jean Krantz (born March 1951), and Rodney Lewis Hensley (born July 1953). Clarene had a passion for caring for others and pursued her calling in nursing, earning her degree in 1971. She worked faithfully at Pauls Valley General Hospital from 1965 until her retirement in 1992. After Don, her husband of 48 years, passed in 1994, Clarene found love again with Edgar "Butch" Christian. They were married in 1997 at Katie Victory Baptist Church, where she was an active member and church secretary for many years. Their marriage was filled with love, fellowship, and family until Butch's passing in 2012. Clarene experienced both trials and triumphs. In 1999, when her home was lost to fire, the community rallied around her and Butch, providing clothing and necessities until she was able to rebuild on the very same spot. That spirit of resilience and gratitude carried her through life. Family was the heart of Clarene's world. She treasured gatherings at her home, often welcoming more than 40 loved ones to share meals, laughter, and games of canasta, cards, Chinese checkers, and dominoes. Those gatherings became cherished memories for everyone who attended. Clarene gave of herself tirelessly-not only to her family but also to her community. She served as treasurer of the local fire department, was active in the community center, and was a proud member of the Eastern Star. Known for her energy and generosity, she loved cooking, crocheting, crafting, and enjoying meals with family and friends. Clarene never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand, listen with an open heart, and share encouragement rooted in her faith. She lived her life by the principles she often shared: love the Lord, pray, be kind and helpful, stand your ground, and give generously. Clarene's legacy is one of love, faith, service, and joy. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends who were blessed to know her.
