Claud W. Brewer, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on July 15, 2025. Born on January 9, 1948, in Manchester, Ohio, to Fred and Agnes Brewer, Claud lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
A devoted husband, father, and proud papaw, Claud’s family always came first. He was larger than life in spirit, but a gentle giant at heart—known for his big hugs, kind smile, and the kind of comforting presence that made everyone feel at home. He had a sharp wit, a great sense of humor, and never missed a chance to tell a good ol' story—each one better than the last.
To know Claud was to be welcomed with open arms and likely a plate of food. He found joy in the simple things—browsing yard sales, auctions, and flea markets in search of hidden treasures, tuning in to his favorite crime and drama shows, and listening to the sounds of Motown Music and “My Girl,” a song that always brought a smile to his face. But above all, Claud loved gathering with family to cook, feed, and simply enjoy one another’s company.
Loving and comforting—those two words describe him best. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched with his humor, generosity, and heart.
Claud W. Brewer will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory continue to bring comfort and joy, just as he did in life.
Claud is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Brewer and Agnes Pollard Brewer; 2 brothers, George Brewer and Roy Brewer; and a sister, Treva Lee.
Left to cherish his memory, Claud is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Page Brewer; daughter, Sonya Fenn (Jim); 3 grandchildren, Shelby, Madilynn, and Jonathan; 1 great-grandchild, Evalynn; sister, Derondia Ruark (Buster); brother, Randy Brewer; many nieces/nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Mr. Claud Brewer will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 8 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, and prior to the funeral service from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the funeral home.
