Claude Henry Brooks, 83, of Stanfield, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.

Claude was born June 8, 1941 in North Carolina to the late James Norman Brooks and the late Martha Elsie Brooks. He was also preceded in death by brother, James "Jimmy" Franklin Brooks.

Claude served in the United States Marine Corps for three years. He was a lifelong and faithful member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Claude loved the outdoors, especially if it included hunting or fishing. Claude was known for being kind, gentle, having a friendly personality as well as always having a joke to share. Claude will be remembered for being a devoted husband, father, step-father, "Poppy" and friend. 

Survivors include beloved wife of 47 years, Ruby Nell Brooks of Stanfield, NC; son, Lindy (Minda) Brooks of Wakeforest, NC; stepsons, Tommy (Sherry) Rushing of Stanfield, NC, Tracy Rushing of Stanfield, NC, and Chad Burnette of Stanfield, NC; sisters, Mildred (Melton) Smith of Oakboro, NC, Carolyn Edwards of Concord, NC, and Dean (Mike) Garris of Cornelius, NC; brother, Danny (Susan) Brooks of Stanfield, NC; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Friday, January 3, 2025 at Philadelphia Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow on Friday at 2:00 pm at Philadelphia Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Dwight Mabry and Rev. Jerry Greene. Burial will follow at the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery at 12568 Philadelphia Church Rd., Stanfield.
