Faynell Tomberlin Greene, 82, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, in her home.
Faye was born November 24, 1942, in Union County to the late Wriston Lee Tomberlin and the late Flora Mae Rushing Tomberlin. She was also preceded in death by husband, Boyce Max Greene; brothers, Floyd "Buster" Amos Tomberlin, James Henry Tomberlin, Jay Warren Tomberlin, Bobby Lynn Tomberlin; sisters, Flora Jane Little, Glenda Kay Tomberlin Kiker, and Beadie Deane Simpson.
Faynell was a caregiver at heart, both nurturing and kind. She was the matriarch of the family, always providing support and love through listening ears, words of affirmation and of course her beloved home cooked meals. Faynell’s love language was cooking a good meal or baked goods for others to enjoy. She refused to see anyone go hungry and would give the shirt off of her back for anyone in need. She was an inspiration to many and her memories will live on through her family and continued traditions.
Survivors include son, Tracy Wayne Greene and wife Heather of Monroe; grandson, Randall Wayne Greene and granddaughters, Brianna Greene Pannizzo and Kelsey Brooke Greene; great grandchildren, Damien Anthony Dungan, McKenzi Marie Cauble-Pearson, Makai Jace Brooks, Lucas Timothy Khan and Greyson Anthony Pannizzo; brother, Wilburn Tomberlin of Monroe; and sisters, Peggy Hinson and Doris Greene of Monroe.
There will be a walk through at Hartsell Funeral Home - Midland, Friday, August 29, 2025, from 1-4 pm, for those who would like to say their goodbyes. A register book will be out for the public to sign, along with a slideshow, pictures and photos. There will be no viewing of the body, or family present, during this time out of respect for Faynell’s wishes. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery, Monroe, NC, officiated by Pastor Rile Baucom.
