Claude Patterson, Sr., age 94, a longtime resident of Stratford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 5, 2025. He was known affectionately by his family-especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren-simply as "Dad."

We will remember him for his faith, his gregarious personality, and sense of humor. For his quick wit, for the love he showed us, for his strong work ethic, his talkative nature, his artistic talents, his wise advice, his love of driving and fixing cars, his passion for photography, and his deep love and devotion to family and friends.

Claude was born in Hogansville, GA on May 5, 1931, as the youngest son to Luella Spearman and Robert Patterson. He lived in Georgia until his family relocated to Connecticut during the Great Migration while he was still a child. He passed away after his parents, his brothers James Boozer, S.H. Patterson, and Charles Young, his wife Queen Esther Patterson (Queenie), son Claude Patterson, Jr., granddaughter Amber Patterson and great-granddaughter Morgan Powell.

He leaves behind his daughters: Valerie Patterson of Stratford, CT; Regina Patterson of Bridgeport, CT; Lisa Smith of Stratford, CT; Tanya Fussell of Ansonia, CT; and his cherished bonus daughter, Helen Farr-Patterson of West Haven, CT.

He is also survived by his grandsons: Claude Patterson III of Bridgeport, CT, and Daymon Patterson of New Britain, CT. His granddaughters are Brooklyn Council of West Haven, CT; Shonna Johnson of Clarksville, TN; Latasha Patterson of Stratford, CT; and Nyanah Fussell of Ansonia, CT.

His great-grandchildren include Imani Kennedy, Chester Kennedy, Tyler Patterson, Daijah Patterson, Najha Griffin, Ashley Patterson (Suthasia), Kymora Council, Guy Council, Brandon Bradford, Ian Patterson, Theodore Lanham III, Giovanni Patterson, Joshua Francisco Patterson, Kaitlyn Patterson, and Brielle Reeves.

He is also survived by his great-great-grandchildren: Kameron Patterson, Leilani Patterson, Eliana Bradford, Aubree Robinson, Leilahani Scott, and Yael Amber Bradford.

Claude lived a good long life and now he can finally sleep in peace. We will always love him, our dad-and we look forward to seeing him again during the resurrection!

My sincere condolences to the Patterson family. Mr.Patterson was a wonderful, kind and Godly man that always made me laugh during the time Smibby and I were good friends. I recall him working under his car one day and came upon a opossum, I recall listening to "Mom's Maybly" records laughing. My prayer is that he will share paradise with his late lovely wife Queenie. To Claude, Val, Lisa and everyone I'm so sorry for your loss. Sincerely Cliff
