Claudia "Jeri" Lopez, 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 18, 2024. She was born in Waterloo, IA, to the late Everett and Kathleen Myers. She was the eldest of five sisters, Moiya, Nikki, Bridget, and Terese - affectionately known as the "Myers Girls," by the neighbors.
As an adult, Claudia moved around the U.S. before finally settling in Tempe, AZ. At a workplace along the way, a customer mistakenly referred to her as "Jeri" and she kept the nickname rather than correct him. In Tempe, she met her husband, Salvador "Chava" Lopez. Together they raised a daughter and two sons, Christi, Tony, and Sonny, among his family in Arizona.
In her final years, she and her husband relocated to California to be under the care of their son. While there, she enjoyed excursions to the mountains, national parks, and beaches. She made new friends and enjoyed exploring culinary experiences.
She had a thirst for knowledge and enjoyed cooking, reading, playing music, watching crime, historical or science fiction programs, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. She studied nursing and had a strong desire to help people - especially children. She was a woman of Faith with unbending values.
She is survived by all but one of her sisters, as Moiya previously passed. She is also survived by her husband and children as well as eight grandchildren and her first great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at the Penn Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church, in California, where she attended an adult day program and made many friends. Please join us on August 20, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.
