Claudia Spanjer

With deep love and gratitude, the family of Claudia Spanjer announces her passing on February 17, 2026.

Born on June 28, 1944, Claudia grew up in Cashmere, Washington-a place she cherished so deeply that it became the backdrop for nearly every chapter of her life.

A proud graduate of Cashmere High School's Class of 1962, Claudia went on to attend Washington State University before marrying Bob Spanjer in 1964. Together, they built a life rooted in family, community, and the small town values she held dear. Cashmere was home in every sense of the word, and it was there that she and Bob raised their two sons, Ric and Dave, aside from a short time spent in Bellevue.

Claudia poured her energy and creativity into the family business, helping grow Bob's Apple Barrel into a beloved local staple. She played a key role in developing their popular mobile concession trucks, which became a familiar sight at sporting events throughout the valley. Her commitment to her community ran deep-she hosted the Cashmere Tennis Tournaments for years, preparing a legendary spaghetti feed for more than two hundred people, and she faithfully supported her church through "fill the bus" food drives. Her entrepreneurial spirit also shone through in the antique shop she owned and operated in Cashmere. Later, she brought her warmth and work ethic to Confluence Health, where she eventually retired.

Claudia's life was anchored by her unwavering faith in Christ and her profound love for her family. She found joy in simple, beautiful moments-sunny days at Lake Chelan and Lake Wenatchee, trips to Maui and Palm Springs, lively bunco nights, dinners shared with friends, and cheering from the sidelines as her grandchildren and great grandchildren competed in the sports they loved. Her presence was steady, encouraging, and full of pride for the generations that followed her.

Claudia will be laid to rest in the Cashmere Cemetery beside her father, Leo. She is survived by the father of her children, Bob Spanjer; her sons Ric Spanjer (Rachel) and Dave Spanjer (Julie); her grandchildren Jason Spanjer (Kendall) and Erica Spanjer; her step grandchildren Matt Fulbright (Becca), Jade (Adam) O'Brien, Rollen Fulbright, Rae (Brandon) Hughes, Cole Schwartz (Katie), Asa Schwartz (Danica), Dane Schwartz, and Ty Schwartz (Codi); as well as her 13 great grandchildren, with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marge and Leo Cope, and her granddaughter J'lene Lewis.

A memorial service honoring Claudia's life will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Center Cashmere, 5800 Kimber Rd, Cashmere, WA.
