Claudine Helen (Alward) Deerr, 95 of Lafayette passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the BeeHive Memory Care in Lafayette.
Claudine was born on December 16, 1927 to the late Claude and Helen (Duchene) Alward in Kingman, IN. She graduated in 1945 from Thornton Fractional TWSP High School. After graduating from Canterbury College in 1949. On July 30, 1950 she married her sweetheart, Johnnie Deerr.
She was a Teacher with the Lafayette School Corporation for 33 ½ years retiring in 1991. Previously working in Pittsboro, Forrest and Darlington.
Claudine enjoyed golf, tennis, bowling and traveling. She was a member of Retired Teachers, Alpha Theta Epsilon, the American Legion Aux. and a member of the Crestview United Brethren Church.
Surviving are her two daughters; Mary (Michael) Miller of St. Charles MO and Barbara (Anthony) Oneal of Corunna, IN. Her grandchildren; Luke Oneal and Tyler Miller, great grandchildren; Mason and Madelyn Miller, nieces; Jeanne Winstead and Tammy Cook, nephew; Tim Deerr.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her sister: Phyllis Renzetti.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette. With a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be directed to The Lafayette Senior Games through Area IV Agency 600 N. 36th St. Lafayette, IN 47905.
