Clay Baxter Carson was born on July 18, 1938, in Spur, TX, as the first child of John Pearl and Maxine Carson, and died in his home at Hidden Springs of McKinney on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the age of 86.
Clay is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Jean Carson of McKinney, TX, brother, Lex Carson of Atlanta, GA, daughter Kim Murray (Dan) of Plano, TX, son Todd Carson (Gail) of McKinney, TX, grandsons Cooper and Jett Carson of McKinney, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. Clay was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Following the addition of his younger brother Lex, Clay's family relocated to Midland, TX. After graduating from Midland HS with the class of 1956, Clay pursued higher education at Southern Methodist University, where he met his future wife Jean in a dance class. After graduating from SMU with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing in 1960, they moved to Washington, D.C., where Clay served as a Military Intelligence analyst in the Army Reserves and received an Honorable Discharge. Subsequently, Clay and Jean relocated to Richardson, TX, where their children Kim and Todd were born.
During this period, Clay worked in the mortgage banking industry, eventually moving to Austin, TX, where he continued his career until his retirement in 1998. As a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association, Clay held the position of President and hosted numerous events, fostering both friendships and professional relationships. Following his retirement, Clay and Jean moved back to McKinney, TX, to be closer to their family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Hidden Springs of McKinney, 6421 McKinney Ranch Pkwy, McKinney, TX 75070. All are welcome.
