George Michael "Mike" Boswell

George "Mike" Boswell, 85, of Dallas, TX, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in Brownsville, TX. He was laid to rest at a private family graveside on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at White Rose Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

George Michael Boswell was born on April 20, 1940, in Wills Point, TX, to parents, George "Jake" Washington Boswell, Jr. and Mary Delilah "Lila" Manning Boswell.

Mike was a true Texas boy from the bottom of his heart. He grew up in East Texas between Kaufman and Wills Point and went on to graduate high school from Marion Military Institute where he made lifelong friends with whom he stayed in touch with until he died.

For his last two years of college, he went to SMU where he met Sandy Boswell, and the two of them eloped in Oklahoma. Mike went on to work full-time during the day to support his family, then went to law school at night to get his degree. For the next decade he worked as an attorney before turning to the corporate world where he was in the oil, gas and mining business.

Mike eventually became the President and CEO of Sunshine mining company. For many years after that, Mike went back to his roots of agriculture where he was part of the largest fish farm in the state of Texas. Not wanting to retire, Mike went back into the industry that he loved so much dealing in natural resources.

Above all, Mike was the father of three: Jeff, Julie, and Jennifer. He had his 10 grandchildren and was blessed with 55 years of marriage. Mike was an ultimate outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and wildlife through and through. He raised his family to love and respect nature, America and Texas, teaching them how to hunt and fish, and especially to respect those who allow us to live that lifestyle: those who serve in the military so that we would have our freedom.
