Clifford A. Culpepper, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where there will be a gathering for family and friends from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Chris Schwanz will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866 of Marshfield and the State of Wisconsin Honor Guard. Burial will be in Veterans Field of Honor in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield, at a later date.
Clifford was born on February 4, 1964, in Park Ridge, IL, to Melvin and Helene (Andersen) Culpepper. After his education he enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, serving from September 1985 until his honorable discharge in September 2008, retiring as Sergeant First Class. In 2006 he and his battle buddies, Jerald Zahn and John Lemke deployed to Iraq, fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom until 2007.
Cliff became a father for the first time in 1985. Later he was united in marriage to Amy Betthauser for 15 years where he gained three stepchildren in addition to one child that he and Amy had together.
As a disabled Army veteran, Cliff was a "jack of all trades" and enjoyed doing maintenance jobs at local bars. He was always fun to be around and there was never a dull moment around Cliff. He was Godfather to Maeble Zahn and was passionate about his grandkids.
He is survived by his children, Amanda (Travis) Simonson of Pittsville, Brandon (Nicole) Culpepper of Marshfield, Corissa (Tony Rollins) Koranda of Stratford, Zach (Skylar) Koranda of Spencer and Jordan (Brooke Schultze) Koranda of Marshfield. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, McKenna, Braden, Charlie, Aiyanna, Gatlin, Izel, and Briar. He is further survived by his mother and her husband, Helene and Tom Kiefer of Fruitland Park, FL and sisters, Susan (Darrell) Gorsuch of Pardeeville and Sharon (Craig) Holan of Illinois, many nieces and nephews, his military brothers and sisters, and his loyal companion and service dog, Phred.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Special thanks to the Marshfield Police Department, the EMT's and the Surgical I.C.U at Marshfield Medical Center.
