Clifford Jackson Taylor of Lockney, Texas went to be with the Lord at the age of 33 on Saturday July 22, 2023. A Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Grey Mule Cemetery in Floyd County. Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2023, at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.
Jackson was born March 22,1990 in Lockney, Texas to Gregg and Cris Taylor. He attended school in Lockney and graduated from Reagan County High School in Big Lake, Texas in 2009. After High School, Jackson attended Clarendon College and graduated with a Certification in Ranch and Feedlot Operations. Many friendships and lasting bonds were made during his time at Clarendon. Jackson later became a member of the WRCA.
Jackson's love for life of being a cowboy never allowed him to stay in one place very long. Even though Texas was his homestead, Jackson was able to go anywhere and make it his own. He has worked from the east coast to the west coast, Canadian border to the Mexican border and everywhere in between. His travels even took him as far as Australia to ride horses. He met many other cowboys along the way who accepted him into their homes and lives as one of their own. Ranch Rodeos and Ranch Bronc ridings also contributed to his travels. While at the ranch rodeos, Jackson was most recently riding for the brand with the Kevin Huddleston Ranches. Jackson was the Bronc rider on the team, but also contributed to other events.
Jackson never missed an opportunity to interact with young kids about cowboying or anything they wanted to talk about. He always made time for children, from coaching a peewee football team in Silverton, Texas to always giving tips to the little mutton busters. He just had a special way with kids. As many of you know, Jackson's personality and charisma paved the way for his debut on National Television, The Ultimate Cowboy Showdown. His time on the show once again gave him the opportunity to meet and make lifelong friends. In recent days, Jackson touched many lives and those he touched, described the cowboy as a top hand, joyous, a comedian, a good listener, very passionate, honest, tough, one of a kind, and bigger than life. If you ever met Jackson you will never forget his big smile that will forever be marked on your heart.
Jackson is survived by his parents Gregg and Cris Taylor of Floydada, his daughter Maddyn, his older sister Tiffany Beltran and husband JJ of Hereford, younger sister Carlyn Boyd and husband Regan of Rockport, niece and nephews Felicity, Ethan, and Berner and his beloved 4-legged companion Triss, who will continue to live the cowboy lifestyle. Jackson is also survived by his aunt Rise and husband Mike Ford of Lockney, his uncle Pete Carr and wife Holly of Dallas and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Along with his immediate family, Jackson is also survived by the many cowboys and cowgirls that he rode with.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jackson's name to the WRCA Crisis Fund,

I didn´t know Jackson personally...but watched him on the Ultimate Cowboy on both seasons. Jackson exemplified what it is meant to be a true cowboy and gentleman. Heaven gained cowboy, but the world lost a great friend! My thoughts and prayers go out to his daughter, parents, sisters, and extended family members and friends. Ms. Lisa McKinney

I only met Jackson briefly before the rodeo but I saw that he was a good man with a great sense of humor. He was so friendly and polite which is rare these days. My prayers go out to his family, friends and teammates (brothers in rodeo) for peace and healing.

I´ll never forget that loud laugh, bright blue eyes and infectious smile. That boy was a handful but we loved him. He´ll forever be remember and never be forgotten. He made high school, and life, in west Texas fun. May he rest in peace. My sincerest condolences to his family. We love you guys.
