Clifton Johnson Obituary

Clifton was a proud veteran, serving in the Merchant Marines in his younger years. After his service, he returned home and began a long career at Champion Paper Company, where he retired. Never one to be idle, he later worked several years at Westinghouse.
He was a devoted member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. Clifton found joy in his family, his faith, and the outdoors. He loved tending to his large yearly garden, working around his home, and spending time with those he loved.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Carver Johnson, and by his daughter, Starlene J. Garrison.
Clifton is survived by his daughter, Patricia J. Scott and her husband Terry D. Scott; his granddaughter, Tara S. Scott of Atlanta, and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde, NC. Pastors Mike Leslie and Jackie Collins will be officiating.
