On January 12, 2025, Pastor Clifton Earl Parr entered into his eternal rest. He was born on October 16, 1951 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi to Marteal Price. He was raised and educated in Chicago, Illinois.
Pastor Parr served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant.
He was married to Marsha Ann Franklin for 47 years. The Lord blessed their union with 4 children; Bernell, Brandi, Va'Shajn and Cameron; 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was a proud family man and fierce protector of his loved ones. His grands and great-grands were the source of much joy in his life. His love of family and everyone in Parrland was second only to his love of God.
In October 1999, he organized Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, which he pastored for 25 years.
For over 25 years, Pastor Parr served the Oceanside community through the Oceanside Police Department, serving as both a Police & Fire Commissioner, and as a member of the Chaplain's Corps.
Pastor Parr leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 47+ years, Marsha Franklin Parr. His four children: three sons, Bernell (Ardesia) Parr, Va'Shajn (Belane) Parr, Cameron (Sharifa) Parr; one daughter Brandi (Dan) Erickson. Eleven grandchildren: Shanelle (Terrell) Jones, Troy (Paula) Parr, Arnesha (Kevin) Bryant, Tarrell Parr, Danny and Ethan Erickson, Josiah Parr, Zianna Washington, Mesai, Liyu and Akale Parr, and seven great-grandchildren: Alexander Jackson, ZaRiah and Christianna Jones, Keanu Dorsey, Kameron, A'aliviah and Kaevyn Bryant. One sister, Teresa Welch of Crystal Springs, Mississippi; dear friends, Donald and Dorothy Magee of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; his beloved Bethany church family, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
