Clinton Ian Duncan Elmore was born on March 12, 1960, in Paddington Hospital, Nottingham, England, U.K. to Jean Duncan Elmore and Joe Louis Elmore Sr. The family moved to the U.S. in later years. Clint graduated from Hamilton Township High School, Columbus, Ohio, in 1977.
Clint had such a giving spirit, never expecting anything in return. He was a true advocate for the community and spoke up for those whose voices were often silenced. He was a faithful servant. Although he didn't serve, in the traditional sense, he was a soldier on and off the field.
He coached youth in the sport he loved most, futbol (soccer). His favorite team was Manchester United, and his favorite player was George Best. Clint was very musical. He felt every rhythm, every beat, and the soul of music. It moved through the soul of his body. He was a dancing machine. When he heard music, he would call or go looking for his wife, Lori. Even through the toughest times as he fought his battle, he wanted to dance, even while bedridden. Music was his superpower! It ignited and refueled him for the fight of his life. Music and the love of family kept him going. Clint mustered up enough energy to give his adored wife, one "Last Dance."
He was a craftsman, and spent time on a television show called, Rowhouse Showdown. After his time spent on TV, he returned home and was called to his next assignment as a community advocate. Clint was a longtime organizer and community leader. He was a friend, comrade, mentor, and teacher to many organizers all throughout Ohio. Clint will forever remain a legend in the community for his work in the revolution and his selfless spirit. Clint loved engaging with people. Most of all, he was a great storyteller and listener. He found opportunities during his many conversations to drop pearls of wisdom. Clint's light will forever shine bright!
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Duncan Elmore, and special cousin Doran Major. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and dedicated wife, Lori Josephine Elmore; Father, Joe Elmore Sr.; dearly beloved Mother-in-law, Lois Spurlock; children: Siobhan (Jason) Sanchez, Ian Duncan Elmore, Jordan Louis Elmore, Esperanza Reyes; bonus children: Marvin Green, Lauren Malone, and Lena Collins; Siblings: Laurel (Paul) Green of New Albany, Joe (Jayne) Elmore Jr. of Banbury, U.K. and Carson Elmore of Columbus; Lisa Williams-Anderson of Lakewood, WA, and Clarissa Williams-Fletcher of Tacoma, WA; Sister-in-laws: Lisa Straughter, Danya Gregory, and Christina Heller; Brother-in-laws: Jack Raymond, Earl (Schlevia) Saunders of Maryland, Brent (Dana) Raymond; Grandchildren: Alexis "Lele" Sanchez, Jason "JJ" Sanchez, Digiana "Digi" Sanchez, Charles Burt, and Ava Green; Great-grandchildren: Saniyah and Lennox; Sister-in-love, Monica Hembrick, and special family, Burla and Joe Middleton (Obetz) Johnny and Carolyn Stephenson (Texas); The ATL Crew; and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia. Special thanks to Teryl and David Simpson, Gary Gordon, and other friends.
Clint will be remembered as loving, funny, eccentric, and an encourager to many. The stories he told will forever be celebrated, just as he was on earth.
