Robert M. Blakey III ObituaryOctober 22, 1962 – August 13, 2025
Born in Upper Arlington, Ohio, on October 22, 1962, to Robert M. Blakey II and Dottie Blakey, Rob spent his early years in Upper Arlington before the family moved to Boardman, Ohio where he graduated from Boardman High School in 1981.
Rob earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Wittenberg University in 1985. During his time there, he became an active and lifelong member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, later serving on its board. He went on to complete a master’s degree in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management from Wright State University.
Rob began his professional career with the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as part of the Materials Command. He served a two-year assignment at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, California, before returning to Dayton, Ohio, where he spent the remainder of his career as a senior logistics analyst.
In 1985, Rob married his college sweetheart, Vickie Kuhls. Together, they made their home in Tipp City, Ohio, and raised two daughters, Jillian and Krissy. Rob was a devoted father, cherishing every opportunity to support and guide his daughters in their education and careers.
A passionate outdoorsman, Rob found joy in nature through fishing and hunting, often accompanied by his long-time friend Joe Miller of Wisconsin. His faithful canine companions—Jasper, Copper, Caper, Bosco, Sparky, and Coco—were constant sources of joy, some serving as his hunting partners. Rob was a committed volunteer for Miami County Pheasants Forever, where he helped organize fundraising events to support youth hunting programs in the area.
After retirement, he spent his remaining years at the HAH cabin in Hocking Hills, where he fished at the local lakes and enjoyed the woods and wildlife.
Rob is survived by Vickie; his daughters, Jillian Blakey (Jack) and Krissy Sanders (Drew); his grandson, Lucas Sanders; his sister, Sue Simon (Ric); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In honor of Rob’s life memorial donations can be made to Miami County Pheasants Forever, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, or American Brittany Rescue.
