Clova Lee May McReynolds 91, of Venice, Florida formerly of Nantahala, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025 in a Venice, Florida care facility. She was born March 30, 1934 in Macon County to the late John and Lola Cochran May. As a young girl she attended Otter Creek School and Briartown Baptist Church. Clova graduated high school in Knoxville, Tennessee and later graduated from Carson Newman College. Clova retired from Heyward Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina. She lived at the Peninsula Club on Lake Norman and moved to Venice, Florida in 1992, living at the Venice Golf and Country Club Clova will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
She was a strong, gently determined, loving wife, devoted daughter, and loyal friend who will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle eyes, sense of humor, and caring heart. All who knew Clova will never forget her. She was a gracious host of many dinner parties, always well dressed, loved growing orchids, golfing, walking, traveling by RV, cruising the world, enjoyed an occasional glass of chardonnay, and loved shopping.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. McReynolds who died in 2012 and a brother, John Dee May.
She is survived by her cherished cousins, Betty Shields, Sidney May, Verden Owenby, Pearly Owenby, Shirley Postell, Shelby Jean Solesbee, Russell Cochran, Roger Cochran, and Wanda Ballew; she is also survived by several in-laws; extended relatives; and long time friends throughout the country.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Briartown Baptist Church with the Reverend S.J. Waters officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sidney May, Pearly Owenby, Donald Cross, Russell Cochran and Kevin Hawkins.
The family will receive friends from 2-2:45 PM Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Briartown Baptist Church prior to the services.
