Cloyd Farmer Obituary

Cloyd Aubry Farmer, 81, of Hominy, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. He was born July 18, 1944, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to John David Farmer and Zola Maxine (Tucker) Farmer.

Cloyd spent his childhood growing up in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he attended Jefferson Elementary and Fayetteville High School. During his younger years he enjoyed roller skating, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors—interests that stayed with him throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for six years as a Boatswain’s Mate Third Class (BM3). During his service he was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and traveled around the globe before receiving an honorable discharge. On July 18, 1964, Cloyd married the love of his life, Sandra “Kay” (Long) Farmer in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The couple shared 60 years of marriage together before her passing on June 9, 2024. Throughout his working years, Cloyd held several jobs including work at the University of Arkansas cafeteria and Jug Wheeler’s in Fayetteville before beginning his career as a burner operator for Lee C. Moore in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he later retired. He was also a proud union member.

Cloyd lived in the Hominy and Osage County area for over 57 years. He loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, camping, metal detecting, and panning for gold. He enjoyed caring for his cattle, horses, chickens, and tending to his farm and garden. Cloyd had a deep love for animals. He also enjoyed traveling with family, especially trips to Colorado to see the mountains and visits to Florida. In his quieter moments he enjoyed reading and studying the bible, listening to country music, watching westerns, and classic Christmas movies.

Cloyd was known for being stubborn and hard-headed at times, but also kind, loving, and always there when his family needed him.

He is survived by his son, Cloyd “Dewayne” Farmer and wife Stephanie Farmer; his brother, Douglas Farmer and wife Linda; six grandchildren, Dustin Farmer, Justin Farmer, Andy Sulphur, Brittany Farmer, James Sulphur, and Kayanna Farmer; and twelve great-grandchildren, Delilah Sulphur, Hayden Barnes, Sydney Sulphur, Element Sulphur, Nova Sulphur, Helena Farmer, Brena Farmer, Chloe Farmer, Michael Cartilage, River Olsen, Minnie Olsen, and Rain Olsen. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Sandra Farmer and Tommie Jo Farmer, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra “Kay” Farmer; his parents, John David and Zola Maxine Tucker Farmer; his sisters Wilma Nash and Rita Turner; and his brothers John David Farmer, B.A. Farmer, and Randy Farmer. As well as two great-grandchildren.

Cloyd will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation for the outdoors, and the many stories and memories he shared with those who knew him.

Services will be held at the chapel in Cleveland, Oklahoma, with Rev. Nathan Connor officiating. Interment will follow at Osage Cemetery in Osage, Oklahoma on March 12, 2026.
