Clyde Kenneth Burroughs, born October 18, 1931 in Mobile, Alabama, passed away January 23, 2026 at the age of 94.
His parents, Clyde Alton and Ethelyn Doggette Burroughs, brother Ronald Alton Burroughs, and his wife Betty Keller Burroughs preceeded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter Gina Burroughs (Ronnie) Stringfellow, sister Brenda Burroughs (Larry) VanManen of Phoenix, Arizona, grandson Justin Lee (Emily) Stringfellow of Elmore, Alabama, great grandchildren Walker, Rhett, and Eleanor Stringfellow, granddaughter Katie Stringfellow (David) Talbert of Apex, North Carolina and great grandchildren Cole, Wade, and Claire Talbert; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
After Murphy High School, he attended Spring Hill College and graduated with a B.S. degree in industrial management and a minor in accounting. While serving 30 years in the US Army Reserve beginning in 1954, he graduated from Transportation Officers School. He also graduated from and was an instructor for Advanced Officers School, Industrial College of Armed Forces, and Command General Staff College. He retired as Colonel. In 1954, he served 6 months in Greenland as base camp commander for ice cap testing and research, and supported the Air Force with under snow radar installation.
He worked for Scott Paper Company 38 years in various assignments in middle management and retired after serving as Equipment Materials Manager, Control Systems, Southern Operations.
One of his greatest joys was being a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church since 1957. He served as deacon, deacon chairman, life deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Sunday School director. In the early days he sang in the choir.
He enjoyed fishing and golf but he loved spending time with his grandchildren and their spouses and was so thankful to be able to know and spend time with his six great grandchildren.
A visitation at 10:00A.M followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M will be held at Spring Hill Baptist Church 2 S McGregor Ave on Friday, January 30, 2026.
Burial will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Spring Hill Baptist Church Lottie Moon Foreign Missions Offering.
