When I was a kid, getting to watch Clyde Winters play basketball was something I would look forward to all week. I never got to meet him but always admired him. May he rest in peace.

Besides being a great person, friend and cousin, Clyde was a basketball legend in Joliet. We all remember. He will be missed. Rest in peace cousin.

I was sad to hear of the passing of Clyde as our friendship began in junior high school. He was one of the best basketball players coming out of Joliet. He had a sneaky left-hand jump shot and could block your shot with it also. Clyde had a great sense of humor and a booming laugh, which would make you laugh as well. My condolences to his family.

I played basketball in Europe in the United States army with Clyde in 1970 -1971. Clyde was the best. basketball player I ever ever played with after I got out of the military. I lost contact with Clyde. I moved to Plainfield Illinois. I joined a gym in Joliet as I was going into the gym. There was a gentleman holding the door for me and when I looked at him, I knew right away it was Clyde Winters, I told him my name and said we played basketball together in Europe and United States Army. He remembered me we got together. Our families met my family and met and we went out to dinner. Group photos of our unit company and all the soldiers in the company and I gave him copies of them and he was very much appreciated of that fact I miss Clyde. Clyde was a good man. Good person we always got along well my heart breaks because I just talked to Clyde a couple weeks ago and he was telling me they were gonna let him go home at the end of the week, he´s home now eternal home. I will never forget Clyde and the great basketball team we had in Europe. We went all the way to the finals with the gentleman and a good person had a good heart always Q In a respectful manner, I have so many great memories of spending with him in Europe and during my time there I offer my sympathy to his family. God bless all of you my prayers have you in my memory and heart.

One very impressive gentleman that I had the pleasure to meet. He believed in his fellow man and went out into the world to "make a difference" with his fellow man on behalf of God. I am glad that I got to meet Clyde. His family members and fellow parishioners have much to be proud of with this fine gentleman. R.I.P my friend.
