Cody N. Thornton, 30, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at his residence. Cody, the son of Douglas C. and Stephanie L. (Cook) Thornton, was born on February 17, 1994 in Decatur.
Cody was a cook at Wings ETC. in Decatur and worked for Heller Nursery as a landscaper. Cody loved Chevy's, Detroit Lions, fishing, and nature. He had a kind heart and loved helping people.
He is survived by his mother, Stephanie L. Thornton of Bluffton; daughter, Cypress Thornton and son, Lyndon Thornton; significant other, Alexis Sweazey of Decatur; maternal grandparents, Bill and Sharon Cook of Monticello; sister, Brittany (Branden) Hill; brother, Gregory Thornton both of Decatur; nieces and nephews, Charlie Thornton, Addison Parrish, Corine Thornton, Kalum Parrish and Cooper Thornton.
He is preceded in death by his father, Doug Thornton, and paternal grandparents, Ronnie and Sharon Thornton.
Visitation will be from Noon – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Family ask that you wear casual dress attire. At 3:00 p.m. there will be a time of sharing and storytelling.
Burial will take place in Decatur Cemetery at a later time.
Preferred memorials are to his children.
Arrangements were entrusted to Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
