Cody R. Trudel, age 27, a resident of Ayer and formerly of Hudson, NH, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 in Groton MA. Cody sadly suffered fatal injuries while out riding his beloved motorcycle on a beautiful summer day. We take comfort that Cody was outside enjoying a favorite hobby when he passed.
Cody was born in Derry, NH on November 1, 1996. He was the son of Gail A. (Langenfeld) Trudel and David J. Trudel. Cody attended grade school in Hudson NH and went on to graduate from Westford Academy in 2015. Cody was a quiet, social and well-liked kid. He excelled in track and field; he quickly learned that speed was his friend and track events came naturally to him. His family, rightfully so, still likes to brag that Cody holds the Westford Academy record for the 55 meter dash. Cody went on to accept an athletic scholarship at UMass Lowell where he studied business.
Growing up, Cody was always involved in various town sports playing baseball, football, basketball and track. In his twenties, Cody dipped his toe into the family sport: golf. Cody grew up in a family where golf was a critical life skill, talked about at dinner and a discussion topic on Christmas Eve. He loved to golf with friends, his two brothers and his Dad (especially the "Fathers Day Foursome").
Described by his Dad, as his best friend, the conversations that father and son shared were honest covering world news to real estate projects. They both enjoyed the comfort of their daily phone call. Cody was equally close with his mom, Gail. Mom and Cody relied on each other for encouragement, often penning kind notes of support. The two regularly went on nature walks, bonded in the kitchen, created marinades and shared stories, goals and dreams while cooking together. Cody adored his mom.
He also spent his downtime online gaming with friends, riding his motorcycle and having fun with his cousin crew. The cousin group was unlike any friend group. Sure they celebrated traditional family milestones, holidays and celebrations together, but his love for his cousins was unprecedented and was often his go-to friend group. He adored his cousins and spent time with them whenever possible.
Cody was at his happiest with his family and his two dogs, Gisele and S'mores. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start a side dog-walking service. He quickly became a fixture in the neighborhood. Locals soon came to know and expect a chat with Cody, the friendly soul out for a walk with his pups. The flexibility of his real estate career afforded him the freedom to enjoy animals and launch his dog sitting business. It is not an exaggeration to say that Cody would stop his day to aid a baby bunny, help a turtle across a busy street or help find a rescue the perfect home. He had a gentle, subtle touch that was appreciated by all who loved him.
Although early in his career, Cody was truly at the cusp of excelling in real estate. His clients respected him and appreciated his honest guidance and as a result, remained friends long after buying their home. It was typical for Cody to be invited to his clients' inaugural BBQ's.
Surviving him in addition to his Mom, Dad and two beloved dogs are two brothers, Matthew E. Trudel and his wife Kelly and Nicolas D. Trudel and his wife Amy; three nieces and a nephew, Reagan Trudel, Colin Trudel, Evelyn Trudel and Anna Trudel; his grandmothers, Jan Donahue and her partner Clif Lawson and Kathy Langenfeld; "Mama Sue" Susan Duarte; aunts and uncles, Scott and Soli Langenfeld and their son Max, Michael LaMoreaux, Stephanie Thibodeau and Freddy Vaught, Nathan LaMoreaux, Marc and Doris Trudel, Suzanne Trudel, Diane Trudel, Jeannine and Michael Matheson, Helen and Robert Lowe and Natalie and Ronald Martinec; dozens of cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Carl Langenfeld and Raymond and Claire Trudel and his uncle Daniel Trudel.
Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday, July 18, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough.
