Coletta Sheffield Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 3, 2022.
Coletta Sheffield
Coletta has been called to her heavenly home at the age of 91. She is now in God's loving care, to be joyfully reunited with her late husband Erv; parents John and Margaret; sons Greg and Jon; grandson Jason; and her five sisters and four brothers.
She was five years old (the eighth child of ten) when her mother unexpectedly passed away. Coletta learned early on how to do her part to help her Pop and her siblings around the house. They didn't have much in the way of material items, living modestly in a small home. Everyone in the family helped one another whenever something needed to be done. Even though there were many hardships in those days, there was much happiness too. In later years, she would fondly tell stories, often funny ones, of all the good family times and adventures she experienced with her Pop, sisters, and brothers while growing up.
She raised her own family of four children as a single parent, working faithfully to support them, by going to school to become a keypunch operator. She worked in this profession until her retirement many years later. She was a caring mother, grandmother, and friend with a good sense of humor. Her faith in God and love of family, gave her strength and determination in both good and challenging times. Over her lifetime, she was increasingly involved in her church, and spent many years of service as Sacristan and member of the Altar Rosary Society.
She is survived by her children, Lyn (Ron) and Tony (Deb); grandchildren Ryan (Kate), Andrea, Shannon (Ian), Claire (Evan), Nicole (Kendall), Jeffrey; great grandchildren Hailey, Braeden, Jillian, Jacob, Emily, Eva, Grace, Gavin, Madasen, and many nieces and nephews.
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His hand.
"On Eagle's Wings"
Please consider a donation in Coletta's memory to Senior Access, a nonprofit providing free transportation and other support services. Their objective is to enhance independence and quality of life to seniors in need. Coletta became a volunteer member in her late seventies and enjoyed riding along with the driver (her daughter), to spend time chatting and reminiscing with other seniors.
